These <strong>pumpkin brownies<\/strong> will be the highlight of fall. Packed-full of pumpkin flavor, not only are these pumpkin brownies delicious but they&rsquo;re also a healthier alternative to boxed brownie mix too.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Healthy ingredients <\/strong>&ndash;  Using canned pumpkin in your brownies gives them a fudgy texture without having to add a ton of fat. Pumpkin is also a great source of vitamins A, vitamin C and potassium. It helps to improve immune and heart health and even your vision too &ndash; getting all those benefits from brownies? Sign me up!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tastes like Fall <\/strong>&ndash; When fall rolls around we&rsquo;re all about the pumpkin around here! Between the fresh or canned pumpkin and pumpkin pie spice this recipe will have you feeling festive.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-ingredients-in-pumpkin-brownies\"><strong>Ingredients in Pumpkin Brownies<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Dark chocolate chips <\/strong>&ndash; you could also use chocolate chunks or chopped chocolate. I personally prefer dark chocolate but milk chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate chips also work great.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unsalted Butter<\/strong> &ndash; just a little bit of butter for this recipe. You could also replace it with coconut oil. You&rsquo;ll also want to use a little fat to grease your baking pan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>All-Purpose Flour<\/strong> &ndash; I personally haven&rsquo;t tested these with a different flour but I imagine both whole wheat flour and almond flour (not almond meal) would both work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Unsweetened cocoa powder<\/strong> &ndash; or you could use dutch-processed cocoa powder or raw cacao powder.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Baking soda<\/strong> &ndash; this is to help your pumpkin brownies rice.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pumpkin Pie Spice<\/strong> &ndash; this gives these brownies a more pumpkin spice flavor, however if you don&rsquo;t like pumpkin spice or can&rsquo;t find it you can skip it entirely or just use cinnamon instead.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Salt<\/strong> &ndash; believe it or not salt actually helps to amplify the sweetness of brownies but if you&rsquo;re watching sodium levels feel free to skip.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Coconut sugar <\/strong>&ndash; I like using coconut sugar for a lower glycemic sugar and less refined sugar option. You could also use brown sugar if that&rsquo;s what you have.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Mashed pumpkin <\/strong>&ndash; typically found as canned pumpkin puree but you could also use fresh homemade pumpkin puree. Just be sure to buy pure pumpkin puree and not pumpkin pie filling as it will alter the taste of these brownies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Eggs<\/strong> &ndash; Two large eggs. Ideally pasture raised for best quality but use what you have!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Vanilla extract<\/strong> &ndash; the chocolate flavor in brownies is actually amplified by vanilla!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-make-pumpkin-brownies\"><strong>How to Make Pumpkin Brownies<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-quaternary-background-color has-background\"><strong>STEP 1: MELT CHOCOLATE + BUTTER<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a small pot add chocolate chips and butter and over low heat stir until mixed and melted. Watch carefully and make sure it doesn&rsquo;t burn! Alternatively melt both together in the microwave in 30 second increments. Allow to cool for 20 minutes before cutting with a knife and removing from pan. I like to cut into 9 brownies (3 x 3). Place a sheet of parchment paper between each level to ensure they don&rsquo;t stick.
