Feel free to replace with a different ground meat as desired.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Egg<\/strong> &ndash; for helping to bind meatballs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Garlic cloves + white onion <\/strong>&ndash; finely minced.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Panko breadcrumbs<\/strong> &ndash; you could use any breadcrumbs but I prefer breadcrumbs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Za&rsquo;atar<\/strong> &ndash; you can find this Middle Eastern spice blend at most grocery stores or <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/4ddpGlq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">order online<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Salt and pepper<\/strong> &ndash; feel free to reduce based on preference and sodium levels.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Veggies <\/strong>&ndash; white onion, garlic and cauliflower. You can also replace them with a different set of veggies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Pearled couscous<\/strong> &ndash; sometimes called Israeli couscous or Middle Eastern Couscous. This is different from Moroccan couscous<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Chicken stock<\/strong> &ndash; or other meat or veggie stock. In a pinch you could also use water.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fresh parsley<\/strong> &ndash; for sprinkling but feel free to omit or replace with a different preferred fresh herb.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Tahini drizzle<\/strong> &ndash; tahini, lemon, garlic and salt and pepper. Add water to thin it out.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-make-one-pot-za-atar-turkey-meatballs-couscous\">How to Make One Pot Za&rsquo;atar Turkey Meatballs + Couscous<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-quaternary-background-color has-background\"><strong>STEP 1: MAKE MEATBALLS<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In a large bowl combine ground turkey, egg, garlic cloves, grated white onion, breadcrumbs, za&rsquo;atar, salt and pepper. Heat a large pot or skillet over medium-high heat. Add olive oil. Roll your meatball mixture into roughly 16 golf ball sized meatballs. Add meatballs to skillet (you may need to do this in 2 batches) and cook until browned on all sides (roughly 5-6 minutes). You&rsquo;re only browning your meatballs so don&rsquo;t worry if they&rsquo;re not cooked all the way through. Once boiling, lower heat to a simmer and nestle in meatballs on top. This recipe is specifically tailored for pearled couscous or Israeli couscous. The ratios of water to grain and cooking times are specific to each grain so unless you are comfortable adjusting these I would not recommend it.<\/p> <\/div> <div class=\"schema-faq-section\" id=\"faq-question-1727187645869\"><strong class=\"schema-faq-question\">Can I use a different meat?<\/strong> <p class=\"schema-faq-answer\">Absolutely! Feel free to replace ground turkey with a different ground meat like ground beef or ground chicken.<\/p> <\/div> <div class=\"schema-faq-section\" id=\"faq-question-1727187667659\"><strong class=\"schema-faq-question\">Can I replace the veggies?<\/strong> <p class=\"schema-faq-answer\">For sure! Simply replace with 4 cups of your favorite vegetables like bell pepper, broccoli, hearty greens or whatever you prefer.<\/p> <\/div> <div class=\"schema-faq-section\" id=\"faq-question-1727187862463\"><strong class=\"schema-faq-question\">What if I can&rsquo;t find za&rsquo;atar?<\/strong> <p class=\"schema-faq-answer\">I highly recommend ordering it online (you can do so <a href=\"https:\/\/amzn.to\/4ddpGlq\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">here<\/a>) or make your own using a blend of sumac, sesame seeds, Middle Eastern Oregano, thyme, marjoram, cumin, coriander and salt.<\/p> <\/div> <div class=\"schema-faq-section\" id=\"faq-question-1727188012123\"><strong class=\"schema-faq-question\">Do I have to use the tahini drizzle?<\/strong> <p class=\"schema-faq-answer\">Nope! You certainly don&rsquo;t have to. I highly recommend it but if you can&rsquo;t find or don&rsquo;t have tahini you could use Greek yogurt for a tangy addition or sunflower seed butter in a pinch.<\/p> <\/div> <\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-storage-instructions\">Storage Instructions<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat leftovers in the microwave or on the stovetop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Freezer instructions:<\/strong>&nbsp;Freeze leftovers in a freezer-safe container for up to 3 months. Allow to thaw overnight in the fridge.
